Senior Director, European Advocacy

About the role

Clean Air Task Force (CATF) is seeking a Senior Director to lead its European advocacy programme. This fully remote position will shape CATF’s pan‑European strategy, guide a distributed team of policy experts, and influence climate policy across the EU and Central‑and‑Eastern Europe.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a Europe‑wide policy advocacy strategy aligned with CATF’s global goals.
• Serve on the senior leadership team to align organisational priorities, resources and investments.
• Lead, mentor and grow a geographically dispersed team of seven policy experts and consultants.
• Partner with the Development team to drive regional fundraising, donor engagement and sustainable revenue growth.
• Direct advocacy efforts that promote practical climate solutions such as carbon management, clean hydrogen, nuclear, geothermal, fusion and methane mitigation.
• Oversee external communications, reviewing reports, policy briefs, white papers and press releases for consistency and impact.
• Represent CATF with European institutions, national governments, funders, industry leaders, media and other high‑level stakeholders.
• Manage regional resources, including budgeting, consultant support and priority‑setting for European initiatives.

Required profile

• Strategic, collaborative leader with a proven ability to bring structure to complex policy environments.
• Demonstrated experience building trust across cultures and institutions in Europe.
• Strong track record in climate‑related policy, advocacy or related sectors.
• Experience leading high‑performing, distributed teams.
• Ability to engage donors and secure funding for advocacy programmes.
