Senior HL7 Integration Engineer

About the role

We are looking for a Senior HL7 Integration Engineer to lead the modernization of a multi‑facility radiology integration environment. This hands‑on role will involve assessing legacy systems, documenting undocumented workflows, and designing a cloud‑based, centralized integration architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Perform a full assessment of the current HL7 landscape, covering eight engine instances and associated facilities.
• Inventory and document channels, interfaces, message types, transformations, routing rules, dependencies, and failure‑handling processes.
• Collaborate with existing engineers to capture historical knowledge and produce maintainable runbooks.
• Review and streamline Mirth Connect and BridgeLink configurations, removing redundant or outdated channels.
• Design a centralized HL7 hub and support HL7 workflows for a new cloud‑based PACS platform.
• Consolidate multiple PACS environments into a single modern architecture and create event‑driven synchronization workflows.
• Configure, troubleshoot, and support HL7 V2 interfaces (ADT, ORM, ORU, SIU) and DICOM integration components.
• Participate in migration planning, testing, cut‑over, rollback, and production support, including moving services to AWS or Azure.
• Provide regular technical status updates, risk assessments, and architecture documentation.

Required profile

• Strong hands‑on experience with HL7 V2 integrations in a production environment.
• Proven expertise with Mirth Connect / NextGen Connect and BridgeLink or similar interface engines.
• Ability to work independently for extended periods while coordinating with engineering, clinical operations, vendors, and leadership.
• Experience migrating integration services to cloud platforms (AWS or Azure).
