Senior ICT Officer

About the role

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is recruiting a full-time Senior ICT Officer in Nairobi. The post oversees ICT infrastructure and technical support and sits at management level. The advertised deadline is 13 November 2026.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, delegate and allocate tasks, including help-desk tickets within a functional area
• Act as a technical mentor and guide the ICT team
• Plan, monitor and evaluate ICT projects
• Take part in developing ICT policies, standards, guidelines and strategies
• Analyse, design, develop, test, implement and monitor ICT systems
• Provide advanced user support, train end users and maintain ICT systems
• Repair and maintain ICT equipment, install, certify and configure it, and update the equipment inventory
• Maintain and update websites and portals, and configure local and wide area networks
• Prepare technical specifications, user manuals and documentation, and ensure adherence to documentation standards
• Schedule and manage user training, train ICT staff and prepare performance reports
• Ensure safe custody of computer catalogues, manuals and licensed software, and escalate faults for further action

Required profile

• Cumulative service of six years' relevant work experience, including three years in the grade of ICT Officer I or a comparable position
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Technology, Informatics, Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Security and Forensics, Business Information Technology, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
• Membership of a professional body where applicable
• Merit and ability shown through work performance and results

• Database management (Oracle, SQL, DB2 or equivalent)
• Information security (CISSP, Security+, CISA, CISM or equivalent)
• Service support operations (ITIL, COBIT or equivalent)
• Network administration (CCNA, HCNA, N+, HP or equivalent)
• System administration (MCSE, Linux, Unix or equivalent)
• Software development (Java, Visual Studio, Python, Oracle or equivalent)
