Senior Internal Auditor

About the role

The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is hiring a full-time Senior Internal Auditor in Nairobi. The post involves conducting internal audits and financial reviews and is open to candidates with a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business administration, CPA-K/ACCA/CIA certification and more than six years of audit experience (at least three in the grade of Internal Auditor I or a comparable position).

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement audit policies, strategies, standards and guidelines.
• Carry out audit assignments according to the approved audit work plan.
• Ensure accountability of records and documents and prepare audit papers.
• Help prepare audit reports for audit engagements.
• Evaluate the progress and effectiveness of actions taken on audit recommendations from internal and external audits.
• Conduct information systems audit engagements, including testing and evaluation of programs, quality assurance and reporting of results.
• Prepare reports and analyses communicating audit results, risks and controls.
• Participate in evaluating internal audit control systems.
• Implement new technologies and business applications.
• Investigate reported and suspected cases of fraud.

Required profile

• Cumulative six years of relevant work experience, including three years in the grade of Internal Auditor I or a comparable position.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (Finance and Accounting option) or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution.
• CPA-K, ACCA, CIA or equivalent qualification from a recognised and accredited institution.
• Membership of the Institute of Internal Auditors Kenya or another relevant professional body, in good standing.
• Merit and ability shown through work performance and results.
