Senior IT Implementation Consultant

About the role

OpenFn is a digital public good for public service automation and AI orchestration, helping governments and NGOs deliver public services more efficiently. Its team, Open Function Group, is a lean, fully remote group of integration specialists, solution architects and implementation consultants working across 40+ countries. As a Senior IT Implementation Consultant, you will be a lead consultant on key implementations with government ministries and large NGOs, reporting to the Head of Implementation. The position is full-time and remote, with hours negotiable, and prefers candidates in Africa or Europe time zones.

Key responsibilities

• Consult with technical and non-technical teams of government and NGO partners to understand their business processes and identify automation opportunities.
• Design and help deliver workflow automation solutions using the open source OpenFn platform, AI and other implementation specialists.
• Work on remote consultations, discovery calls and workshops, with solution design and technical implementation in between.
• Conduct API discovery and work with software engineers to develop specifications and implement OpenFn workflow automation.
• Train and coach team members and partner implementers on solution design and IT implementation best practices.

Required profile

• 7-10+ years of experience in data or technology fields such as data integration, workflow automation, consulting, business analysis, data management, software development or systems administration.
• 3-5+ years in a consulting or customer-facing role providing technical advisory, IT implementation, training or customer service.
• Fluent English; French and/or Spanish is a major advantage.
• Willingness to travel internationally at least twice per year.
• Ability to work from home or a shared office with fast, stable internet, preferably in Africa or Europe time zones.

Required skills

• Technical familiarity with information systems, mobile data collection apps and data analysis tools (SQL databases, CRMs, BI tools).
• Advantageous: REST API fundamentals, JSON and JavaScript; Postman and workflow automation tools such as OpenFn, Camunda, n8n, Zapier, Make.com, OpenHIM, Mulesoft or WSO2.
• Advantageous: business process analysis, BPMN/UML, data integration, ETL, software testing, IT project management and team leadership.
