Senior Lecturer – Community Health Practice

About the role

The University seeks an experienced Senior Lecturer to deliver public health education, support curriculum development, and lead research initiatives within the Community Health Practice department.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver lectures, tutorials, seminars and skills‑based sessions in Public Health to undergraduate and graduate students.
• Design, develop, review and implement curricula and syllabi; develop, moderate and administer examinations.
• Provide academic advising, mentorship and supervision to students and junior academic staff.
• Participate in internal and external moderation, quality‑assurance, accreditation and audit activities.
• Contribute to departmental planning, budgeting and work‑plan development.
• Represent the department at academic, public and stakeholder forums.
• Conduct independent and collaborative research, secure and manage research grants, publish findings and present at conferences.
• Supervise Master’s and PhD candidates in proposal writing, thesis development and examination.

Required profile

• PhD in Public Health or a related health discipline from a recognized institution.
• Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable.
• At least five years of university teaching experience in Public Health at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
• Demonstrated experience in curriculum design, postgraduate supervision and academic committee work.
• Evidence of scholarly publications in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Sound knowledge of research methodology, research ethics and higher‑education regulatory standards.
