Senior Lecturer Grade 5a - Private Law

About the role

South Eastern Kenya University is advertising one vacancy for a Senior Lecturer Grade 5a in Private Law. The position is open to candidates who meet the university's appointment requirements.

Required profile

• Earned PhD in Private Law or an equivalent degree from a recognised and accredited university; a Master's degree in Private Law or equivalent; and a Bachelor of Laws or equivalent degree.
• At least three years of university-level teaching experience as a Lecturer Grade 6A, or six years of research or industry experience.
• A minimum of 32 publication points as a Lecturer or equivalent, of which at least 24 must come from refereed scholarly journals.
• Supervision of at least three postgraduate students to completion as a Lecturer SEKU Grade 6A or equivalent.
• Membership of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing with a valid practicing certificate.
• Experience attracting research or development funds as a Lecturer SEKU Grade 6A or equivalent.
• In-depth professional knowledge in a specialised field or broad knowledge of several fields.
• Compliance with Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity (2010).
• Relevant experience in civil litigation, conveyancing, dispute resolution or other private-law practice is an added advantage.
