Senior Manager, Institutional Project Management

About the role

The African Wildlife Foundation seeks a senior leader to oversee institutional project management across its portfolio, ensuring alignment with strategy, governance standards, and delivery performance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage AWF’s project portfolio, tracking status, budget, schedule, risks and escalations, and support prioritisation and resource allocation.
• Lead design and implementation of standard project management processes, stage‑gate reviews, and quality‑assurance checks for high‑risk and strategic initiatives.
• Maintain and continuously improve the institutional project management framework, templates, governance tools and repository.
• Establish risk‑management processes, monitor performance indicators, and drive corrective actions for under‑performing projects.
• Coordinate cross‑functional and multi‑country stakeholder communication, acting as senior advisor on governance and delivery.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Environmental or Conservation Science, Development Studies or related field.
• 8–10 years of progressive MEL experience, with 3–5 years in senior or managerial roles within conservation, natural‑resource management or international development.
• Proven track record designing enterprise‑level MEL systems, data analytics, and quality‑assurance processes.
• Experience working in matrixed, multi‑country organisations with decentralized implementation.
