Senior Project Manager

About the role

Code for Africa is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead multi‑stakeholder initiatives across its civic technology and data journalism programmes. The role is remote‑friendly and open to exceptional candidates from anywhere in Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, track and manage work plans for multiple projects, coordinating delivery across cross‑functional teams.
• Act as the central point of coordination, sequencing work, flagging conflicts and ensuring timelines and quality standards are met.
• Maintain stakeholder relationships, provide regular updates, and manage expectations with partners, governments, media institutions and NGOs.
• Oversee budget allocations for grants, fellowships and events, ensuring compliance with CfA and partner guidelines.
• Prepare and review stakeholder reports, monitor project metrics and ensure timely internal reviews.

Required profile

• 4+ years of project management experience, preferably in development, civic tech or social impact sectors.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi‑stakeholder initiatives with competing priorities.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and calm, solution‑focused approach under pressure.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; additional languages (French, Arabic, African languages) are a plus.

Required skills

• Proficiency with project management tools such as Asana, Trello or Google Suite.
• Experience in budget and financial management for grants and programmes.
• Data analysis and reporting capabilities.
