Senior Project Manager

About the role

Absa Bank Kenya is looking for a Senior Project Manager reporting to the Head of Change. The role takes full responsibility for delivering business and technical solutions that support the bank's strategic and operational objectives, covering large to medium-sized business-critical projects, major work streams of complex projects, smaller projects or a mix of them. It follows Absa Bank's project practices, standards and methodologies and complies with regulatory requirements and the Enterprise-Wide Risk Management Framework.

Key responsibilities

• Define and plan projects: support business requirements, business cases and project charters, define scope, deliverables and resource needs, and secure sign-off from the Project Sponsor and Steering Committee.
• Manage large-scale projects, leading a team and resources in-country or across Africa, controlling initiation, progress and delivery in line with the project methodology.
• Forecast costs, cash flow and timescales, identify and escalate issues and risks, and prepare accurate project and resource plans.
• Monitor budgets and resources, gain agreement on changes, and report progress monthly to Accountable Executives, stakeholders and the Steering Committee.
• Plan operational handover, set up Service Management Groups and Service Level Agreements, and procure external resources and services in line with the Programme Manager.
• Set up audit and quality plans, ensure compliance with quality standards and architectural frameworks, and manage the full project lifecycle from business case to post-project review.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement, governance exceptions and communications, and ensure compliance with regulatory, risk and security requirements.
• Lead and coach sub-project teams, set targets, identify training needs and contribute to performance assessments.

Required profile

• Preferred qualification: PRINCE2 or PMP certified.
• Ability to lead a project team and manage resourcing and financial constraints proactively.
