Senior Project Manager – Utility-Scale Solar & BESS

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead end‑to‑end delivery of utility‑scale solar PV and battery energy storage (BESS) projects across Africa. The role is based in Nairobi, Kenya and requires relocation.

Key responsibilities

• Own project execution from financial close through construction, commissioning and commercial operation.
• Manage EPC contractors, Owner’s Engineers, suppliers, government authorities, utilities and internal teams.
• Oversee site construction, logistics, procurement coordination and delivery milestones.
• Lead EPC contract management, cost control, performance monitoring, claims handling and risk mitigation.
• Coordinate FAT/SAT activities, commissioning, performance testing and handover to operations.
• Integrate solar PV, BESS, diesel generation, SCADA, EMS, substations and electrical balance‑of‑plant systems.
• Identify and manage technical, commercial, logistical, regulatory and operational risks.
• Provide regular reporting to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Renewable Energy or related field.
• 10–15 years of experience delivering large infrastructure or renewable energy projects.
• Proven delivery of at least three utility‑scale solar PV/BESS projects >30 MW and one >100 MW.
• Experience with hybrid projects that include solar PV, BESS, diesel generation and EMS.
