Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

About the role

Softgic is looking for an experienced Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to ensure the quality, reliability and performance of web and mobile-based SaaS applications. The role starts as the primary QA Engineer in a small project team, working closely with developers, product managers, manual and automation QA engineers to define and run testing strategies. It also offers the chance to guide and mentor junior QA staff and grow toward a QA Lead or Manager position.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement risk-based testing strategies and develop test plans, test cases, procedures and QA strategies.
• Execute functional testing, document results, and track defects, metrics and QA activities.
• Manage testing schedules across multiple projects and communicate status, risks and blockers to stakeholders.
• Test multi-tiered web, mobile and SaaS applications, including database-level validation with SQL queries.
• Work with automation engineers to increase automation coverage, contribute to automated tests, and use functional and performance/load testing tools.
• Take part in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, troubleshoot issues and help teams find root causes.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and drive continuous improvement of QA processes, tools and infrastructure.

Required profile

• 6+ years in software quality assurance, testing, product development or related roles.
• Full SDLC experience, from requirements analysis through release and post-release support.
• Significant experience testing web, SaaS and mobile applications, with hands-on manual and functional testing.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Ability to handle several projects and deadlines at once, with strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Test planning, test cases, risk-based testing, defect tracking and reporting.
• Functional and performance/load testing tools; test automation tools and frameworks (hands-on Selenium highly desirable).
• SQL/database query writing and execution.
• Agile/Scrum collaboration and mentoring experience preferred.
