Senior Quantity Surveyor – Real Estate Cost Management

About the role

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will lead cost management for real‑estate projects in Nairobi, ensuring budgets are accurate, contracts are administered efficiently, and financial risks are mitigated. This senior position reports to the Project Management team and works closely with design, procurement and construction stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary cost estimates, feasibility studies and detailed cost plans aligned with project scope.
• Conduct material take‑offs, pricing and develop Bills of Quantities for tender packages.
• Prepare, review and evaluate tender documents, contractor bids and support contractor selection.
• Administer contracts, manage variations, claims and change orders throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project costs, produce financial reports, cash‑flow forecasts and identify cost overruns early.
• Conduct site measurements, certify interim valuations and process payments to contractors.
• Identify commercial risks, propose mitigation strategies and recommend cost‑saving measures.
• Finalize accounts, ensure all financial obligations are settled and compile comprehensive project financial records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in construction cost management.
• Professional membership with a recognized quantity surveying institute is preferred.
