Senior Regional Financial Management Officer

About the role

The Senior Regional Financial Management Officer will lead the financial operations for IFAD’s programmes in the West Africa region, based in Abidjan. The role ensures efficient, economical, and effective use of IFAD’s resources while supporting the Fund’s development commitments.

Key responsibilities

• Manage complete financial operations covering multiple funding sources and high transaction volumes.
• Develop and supervise the regional work plan and oversee a team of finance professionals and assistants.
• Coordinate with the Regional Director, Country Directors, procurement officers and technical staff to ensure consistent application of financial and procurement policies.
• Identify and mitigate financial and procurement risks across projects.
• Ensure compliance with IFAD’s fiduciary standards and financial reporting requirements.
• Provide technical support and programme development assistance to country teams.
• Travel extensively within the region and internationally to oversee financial management portfolios.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, economics, accounting) from an accredited institution, or a first degree plus at least four years of relevant professional experience.
• Proven experience in managing large‑scale financial operations, preferably in an international development or multilateral organization.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and supervise finance teams.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Willingness to travel frequently within the region and abroad.
