Senior Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

Deimos, a cloud-native developer and security operations technology services company, is looking for an experienced Senior Site Reliability Engineer to join its Professional Services team and deliver software and DevSecOps projects. The role reports to a Site Reliability Engineering Manager and sits within a fully remote team of engineers based in Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa and Senegal.

Key responsibilities

• Enablement and RelOps culture: guide teams from basic monitoring to high-signal metrics, define SLAs, SLIs and SLOs, build dashboards and error-budget tracking, and build CI/CD and rollback tooling.
• Drive a blameless post-mortem culture focused on measurable metrics such as MTBF and MTTR.
• Improve company-wide alerting and on-call frameworks to reduce alert fatigue.
• Evolve disaster recovery from manual processes to automated runbooks-as-code.
• Build pre- and post-deployment verification tooling in Python (or similar) to eliminate toil.
• Lead reliability-as-code: use Terraform to architect, deploy and configure the observability stack (ELK, Grafana, Loki, Prometheus, tracing).
• Automate Azure infrastructure provisioning and configuration with PowerShell, YAML and Bicep, and monitor and troubleshoot network, storage and compute issues.
• Deploy and manage Azure Databricks infrastructure, attend to support tickets and maintain technical support documentation.
• Pilot and implement innovative concepts and support troubleshooting of DevOps tools and processes for stakeholders.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, SRE, DevOps or platform engineering, with ownership of reliability standards at team or company level.
• Proven ability to define reliability standards across teams and drive a blameless post-mortem culture.
• Remote work experience and comfort in a fast-paced, client-facing environment.

Required skills

• Python (or similar) for production-grade automation.
• AWS and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or CloudFormation).
• Monitoring tools such as DataDog, Prometheus and the ELK stack.
• SRE concepts: Golden Signals, high-cardinality data handling and error budget mathematics.
• Design for scale and resilience, including circuit breaking, connection pooling and multi-AZ deployments.
