About the role
Amentum is seeking a Sheetmetal Worker to support a unique US Navy program on the remote island of Diego Garcia. The role involves fabricating, installing, and repairing sheet‑metal systems while adhering to strict safety and quality standards.
Key responsibilities
- Fabricate, assemble, install, and repair sheet‑metal products such as ducts, vents, roofs, and gutters.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to prepare materials and execute jobs.
- Operate and maintain sheet‑metal tools including shears, brakes, drills, and welding machines.
- Measure, cut, and bend metal using manual or computerized equipment.
- Inspect completed work for alignment, installation quality, and compliance with specifications.
Required profile
- 1‑3 years of experience in sheet‑metal fabrication, installation, or repair.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid passport (minimum 1 year) and ability to obtain required visas.
- Ability to lift heavy objects, work in confined spaces, and meet physical demands.
Required skills
- Sheet‑metal fabrication techniques (cutting, bending, welding, soldering).
- Reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Operation of HVAC ducting and related architectural sheet‑metal components.
- Use of CNC equipment for advanced fabrication.
