Ship’s Store Purchasing Coordinator

About the role

The Ship’s Store Purchasing Coordinator supports retail procurement and inventory replenishment for a U.S. Navy program on the remote island of Diego Garcia. You will ensure that merchandise is ordered, received, and stocked in line with Navy Ship’s Store standards.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor stock levels and prepare purchase requests.
• Coordinate with approved vendors and verify product specifications and pricing.
• Track open orders, reconcile purchase documentation, and maintain accurate purchasing records.
• Assist with receiving, labeling, and updating POS or inventory management systems.
• Support inventory forecasting, identify low‑stock or high‑demand items, and collaborate with Store Clerks, Accountants, and leadership.
• Prepare procurement reports, ensure audit‑ready documentation, and uphold Navy regulations.

Required profile

• 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, retail procurement, or inventory coordination.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic understanding of procurement processes, inventory management, and retail operations.
• Valid passport (minimum 1 year validity) and ability to pass contract medical requirements.
• Willingness to travel internationally and obtain required facility credentials.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Experience using inventory or POS systems.
