Social Media Consultant

About the role

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN‑Habitat) is seeking a Social Media Consultant to support the Executive Director’s online presence. This remote, six‑month assignment will focus on creating and curating engaging content across key platforms to amplify UN‑Habitat’s mission of sustainable urban development.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, and publish approved content on LinkedIn, X, Instagram, and Facebook.
• Act as community manager for the Executive Director’s accounts, moderating comments and fostering audience interaction.
• Produce multimedia assets such as graphics, stories, reels, and written posts.
• Research trends and partner posts to recommend relevant reposts.
• Collaborate with internal social media focal points and on‑ground teams to ensure alignment with campaigns.
• Maintain and update a social media editorial calendar, highlighting campaign opportunities, events, and milestones.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communication, digital marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2 years experience managing social media channels with strong copywriting and editing abilities.
• Ability to translate technical information into clear, engaging content for a broad audience.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills for virtual teamwork.

Required skills

• Proficiency with social media scheduling tools.
• Experience using Canva.
• Experience using Adobe Suite.
