Software Engineer – Digital Development Consultant

About the role

United Nations Environment Programme is seeking a Software Engineer on a consultancy basis to lead the digital development of its WESR (Water, Energy, and Sustainable Resources) tools. The consultant will work on the EDC Toolkit and the WESR Knowledge Hub to prepare them for pilot implementation and wider rollout.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, test and transition core EDC Toolkit digital components, including the GEDS Assessment Tool backend and front‑end, Capacity Pathways modules and their integration.
• Build and containerise a React‑based UI web application for the GEDS Toolkit and integrate resources through the CKAN API.
• Produce technical documentation and conduct knowledge‑transfer sessions to ensure internal maintenance after the consultancy ends.
• Provide advisory and technical development support to the WESR infrastructure as required.
