Software Engineer Intern

About the role

Pezesha, a licensed digital financial marketplace serving SMEs with working capital and based in Kenya with operations in Uganda, is looking for software developer interns to join its tech team. The interns support the day-to-day operations of the company's credit and data platforms.

Key responsibilities

• Turn technical designs and notes into secure code, building applications, APIs and integrations into and out of the platforms
• Help implement and manage the end-to-end credit and data platforms
• Act as a first point of support for technical solution issues
• Document technical processes
• Carry out quality assurance and testing
• Work with data and operations teams so customer needs are met
• Provide technical training to teams and partners

Required profile

• Enthusiasm for technology and a strong willingness to learn and grow as a developer
• Pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, BBIT or a related field
• Solid problem-solving and analytical thinking skills
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic and collaborative mindset
• Excellent communication skills
• Personal qualities: integrity, ownership of tasks, attention to detail, discipline, agility and humility

Required skills

• Basic understanding of object-oriented programming concepts
• Familiarity with at least one programming language (e.g. PHP, Java, Go)
• Exposure to backend frameworks such as Laravel, Spring Boot or Gin (Go) is a plus but not mandatory
