Solar Engineer – Kenya

About the role

Solarise Africa seeks a certified Solar Engineer to lead the engineering delivery of commercial and industrial (C&I) solar projects in Kenya. The role covers the full project lifecycle—from feasibility studies to commissioning—and includes performance optimisation of an existing portfolio of 43 sites (≈8 MW).

Key responsibilities

• Lead detailed engineering design for new C&I solar PV projects, including system sizing, equipment selection, single‑line diagrams and layout drawings.
• Conduct site feasibility, shading analysis, solar resource evaluation and prepare Bills of Quantities, technical specifications and tender documents.
• Coordinate and evaluate technical contractors, support EPC procurement and supervise construction and commissioning activities.
• Act as Technical Asset Manager for the operational portfolio, monitoring performance via SCADA, diagnosing under‑performance and overseeing preventive and reactive maintenance.
• Champion health, safety and environmental standards on‑site, producing risk assessments, method statements and toolbox talks.
• Serve as the technical liaison with off‑takers, landlords, utilities, government bodies and internal commercial teams.

Required profile

• Certified Solar Engineer with proven experience in C&I solar PV projects.
• Strong background in detailed design, contractor coordination, site supervision and commissioning.
• Familiarity with Kenyan grid regulations, industry standards and compliance requirements.
• Ability to manage technical asset performance and interact with diverse stakeholders.
