Solutions Engineer – Project & Mission-Critical Power Sales

About the role

The Solutions Engineer will lead the technical side of PowerGen pre‑sales and bid processes, turning customer requirements and tender documents into compliant, competitive power solutions. The role also focuses on mission‑critical projects such as data centres, hospitals and industrial facilities across Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda and Burundi.

Key responsibilities

• Lead technical responses for PowerGen bids, including system design, generator sizing, load analysis and compliance with specifications.
• Develop and submit technical proposals, scope of work documents and Bill of Materials to support competitive pricing.
• Identify, qualify and win mission‑critical projects by engaging developers, EPC/MEP contractors and consultants.
• Collaborate with sales, project execution and supply chain teams to ensure smooth handover and installation.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.
• Proven experience as a Solutions Engineer, Application Engineer or Technical Sales professional in the power generation industry.
• Strong background with mission‑critical power applications (data centres, hospitals, etc.) and interpreting tender documents.

Required skills

• Deep knowledge of diesel and gas generator sets, control systems and power distribution.
• Familiarity with generator sizing software and electrical design principles.
• Understanding of ISO, IEC and NFPA standards related to power generation.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar electrical design tools.
