Sub-County MEL & Information System Assistants

About the role

The Sub‑County Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) & Information Systems Assistants will support the planning, implementation and review of Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) campaigns in Busia and Siaya counties. Working under the MEL Database Manager, they will ensure high‑quality data collection, system functionality and timely reporting.

Key responsibilities

• Configure, test and maintain DHIS2 platform and mobile data collection tools; create forms, dashboards and supervisory checklists.
• Oversee deployment of mobile supervision tools, monitor real‑time performance data and resolve technical issues.
• Support field data quality monitoring, conduct spot checks, verify GPS coordinates and ensure accurate indicator reporting.
• Provide hands‑on system troubleshooting, refresher training and digital support during campaign operations.
• Participate in MEL review meetings, prepare technical reports on system performance and document lessons learned.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Public Health, Epidemiology, Data Science, Computer Science, ICT or related field.
• Minimum 2 years of relevant MEL/IT experience; experience with IRS campaigns is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal skills, high integrity and willingness to reside in the duty county.
• Ability to work six days a week, independently and under tight deadlines.

Required skills

• Proficiency with DHIS2, Tracker App and GIS/GPS.
• Experience using mobile data collection platforms such as ODK or Kobo Toolbox.
• Competence in MS Office and data‑visualisation tools.
• Familiarity with database applications and basic data analysis.
