Superintending Engineer (Structural)

About the role

The Superintending Engineer (Structural) will oversee the design, construction, inspection, and maintenance of structural works for Nakuru County. This full‑time position is based onsite in Nakuru and reports to senior management.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise engineering teams and contractors on structural projects.
• Review structural designs and drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards and building regulations.
• Ensure quality and safety standards are met throughout project execution.
• Provide administrative direction and control for structural programmes, including supervision of professional and technical staff.

Required profile

• Served in the grade of Senior Engineer (Structural) or comparable public service position for at least three years.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.
• Registered Professional Engineer with the Engineers Registration Board of Kenya and a current annual practising licence.
• Corporate membership with the Institution of Engineers of Kenya.
• Demonstrated ability to manage structural programmes and achieve results.

Required skills

• Structural engineering design and analysis.
• Construction inspection and maintenance.
• Knowledge of Kenyan engineering standards and building regulations.
