Team Leader – AI Annotation Operations

About the role

We are seeking a proactive Team Leader to oversee our AI annotation team in Nairobi. The role involves driving productivity, ensuring high‑quality data labeling, and acting as the bridge between annotators and project managers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and motivate a team of AI annotators to meet productivity and quality targets.
• Allocate daily annotation tasks, monitor workload distribution and track attendance.
• Conduct quality assurance reviews to guarantee accuracy, consistency and compliance with project guidelines.
• Coordinate project timelines, resolve operational challenges and escalate issues when needed.
• Train, mentor and coach annotators on tools, standards and best practices.
• Monitor KPIs such as accuracy, turnaround time and error rates, and implement improvement plans.
• Serve as primary liaison between the annotation team and project managers, communicating updates and client feedback.
• Identify workflow improvements, update guidelines and ensure data security and confidentiality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Data Science, Business or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in AI data annotation or labeling, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Proven ability to manage teams, meet strict deadlines and uphold quality standards.
• Strong understanding of QA processes, performance metrics and continuous improvement.
