Technical Account Manager – Payments & FinTech

About the role

The Technical Account Manager will lead the integration and delivery of payment solutions for Safaricom’s M‑Pay platform, working closely with strategic partners and internal product, engineering and commercial teams.

Key responsibilities

• Define integration roadmaps, prioritize features and manage product lifecycle for payment services.
• Architect, certify and ensure operational readiness of partner integrations across the full partner lifecycle.
• Collaborate with product, engineering, commercial and market teams to drive strategic partnerships.
• Provide executive‑level communication and stakeholder management across multiple regions.
• Oversee settlement, reconciliation and financial messaging standards implementation.

Required profile

• Minimum eight years of experience in Payments, FinTech, Banking or Digital Financial Services.
• Proven technical product leadership and experience managing enterprise‑level integrations.
• Experience working with strategic partners and enterprise customers in regulated fintech environments.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT, Business or related discipline.

Required skills

• REST and SOAP APIs, API management and gateways.
• Event‑driven and micro‑services architectures.
• OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC) and JWT security.
• Platform security, observability and resilience practices.
• Financial messaging standards: ISO 8583, ISO 20022 and SWIFT.
