Technical Operator - FMCG Manufacturing

About the role

Brites Management Services is hiring a full-time Technical Operator for its FMCG manufacturing business in Thika. The role covers operating and monitoring production machinery, basic maintenance and troubleshooting, and keeping production running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor and control production machinery, handling start-up, shutdown, changeover and routine adjustments while following operating procedures.
• Monitor production processes, spot abnormalities and escalate machine faults and performance deviations.
• Carry out routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, tightening and replacement of approved components.
• Diagnose and fix routine mechanical and electrical faults within the scope of training and authorisation, and report major breakdowns to the technical or maintenance team.
• Keep machines within approved parameters so product quality, packaging accuracy and food safety standards are met.
• Track machine performance, output, material usage and downtime, and keep accurate records of operations, faults and maintenance.
• Work with production supervisors, maintenance technicians and quality control staff, and take part in changeovers, planned maintenance and continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, preferably with a plant engineering option or focus on industrial machinery and manufacturing.
• 1-3 years of experience in machine operation, technical operations or equipment maintenance in a manufacturing setting.
• Previous experience in the FMCG industry is mandatory.

Required skills

• Practical knowledge of industrial production machinery, basic troubleshooting and preventive maintenance.
• Understanding of mechanical and electrical systems, workplace safety and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to follow technical instructions and standard operating procedures and keep accurate operational records.
