Technical Sector Officer – Community Mobilisation

About the role

The Technical Support Officer, Community Mobilisation (TSO‑CM) will support the Technical Coordinator in planning and implementing social empowerment, gender equality, disability inclusion, SRHR, SGBV, community dialogues and grassroots advocacy in Kakamega, Kenya.

Key responsibilities

• Support AIM field team during inception activities such as community mobilisation meetings, transect walks and surveys.
• Train regional staff on GESI, GBV, disability inclusion, domestic violence reporting and women’s rights advocacy.
• Lead SBCC dialogue sessions with local, religious and cultural leaders and guide them in developing action plans.
• Identify and adapt safe, accessible club spaces with gender‑segregated facilities for marginalized groups.
• Coordinate with government, INGOs, CSOs and YDC members to strengthen social empowerment interventions.
• Mentor youth advocates, oversee advocacy action plans and organise community action planning sessions.
• Contribute to monitoring frameworks, reporting, documentation of best practices and MIS data entry.

Required profile

• Degree in International Development, Gender, Sociology, Anthropology or related Social Sciences.
• 3‑5 years experience in gender equality, social inclusion, SGBV, community engagement or advocacy.
• Experience providing technical assistance, developing training modules and facilitating capacity‑building sessions.

Required skills

• Computer literacy and proficiency with MIS tools (e.g., BInsight).
• Training material development and facilitation.
