Temporary Electoral Staff – By‑Election Roles (Migwani)

About the role

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is recruiting temporary staff for the upcoming by‑election in Migwani Ward, Kitui County. Roles cover polling station operations, voter education, and electoral training.

Key responsibilities

• Set up polling stations, demarcate areas, and display election posters.
• Manage queues, verify voter identity, issue stamped ballot papers and control voting flow.
• Collect, sort and transmit election results electronically using KIEMS.
• Conduct voter education in schools, churches, markets and community centres.
• Assist in training presiding officers, deputy officers and clerks on polling and counting procedures.
• Supervise polling activities, ensure security of equipment and oversee material distribution.

Required profile

• Kenyan citizen of high integrity, non‑partisan and resident of the Migwani ward.
• Minimum education: KCSE C‑ and above for clerks; diploma or degree for trainer and educator roles.
• Availability for the entire election exercise.
• Good character, ability to work under pressure and strong communication skills.

Required skills

• Computer literacy and basic use of digital platforms.
• Report writing and data handling.
• Basic knowledge of KIEMS (electronic results transmission system).
• Use of social media platforms for voter outreach.

What we offer

• Polling/Counting Clerks: Ksh 1,000 per day.
• Ward‑based Voter Educators: Ksh 1,500 per day.
• Support Electoral Trainers: Ksh 2,000 per day.
• Deputy Presiding Officers: Ksh 1,800 per day.
