Tutor – Medical Laboratory Sciences

About the role

Amref International University is hiring a full-time, on-site Tutor for Medical Laboratory Sciences in Nairobi. The tutor provides teaching, training, mentorship and academic support to students in the Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences programme, working closely with the Head of Department. The position is open until 05/11/2026.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lectures, practical sessions and demonstrations, attend all assigned class contact hours, and prepare and validate internal exams
• Develop and mark continuous assessments, practical exams, assignments and end-term exams, enter grades into the ERP system and keep accurate academic records
• Supervise students during clinical placements and liaise with training sites to ensure quality clinical learning
• Ensure safe use and maintenance of laboratory equipment, promote biosafety and infection prevention protocols, and assist with inventory of supplies and reagents
• Attend departmental meetings and academic committees, mentor and counsel students, and contribute to recruitment, events and community outreach

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognised institution
• Valid registration and practicing licence from the relevant professional regulatory body
• At least three years of relevant teaching experience
• A teaching qualification or training in pedagogy is an added advantage
