Tutor - Pharmacy

About the role

Amref International University, part of Amref Health Africa, is recruiting a Tutor for Pharmacy to teach, train and mentor students enrolled in the Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology. The tutor provides high-quality teaching, training and academic support, working closely with the Programme Coordinator to meet departmental performance targets and regulatory and accreditation requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver lectures, practical sessions and demonstrations, including attendance at all assigned contact hours
• Prepare internal exams, validate them, invigilate and mark, and enter grades into the ERP
• Develop continuous assessments, practical exams, assignments and end-term exams, and monitor students' progress
• Supervise students during clinical placements and liaise with training sites
• Take part in curriculum review, accreditation and quality assurance processes
• Maintain laboratory equipment safely, follow infection prevention protocols and help manage laboratory inventory
• Attend departmental and academic committee meetings, mentor students and contribute to recruitment and outreach

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy or PharmD from a recognised institution
• Valid registration and practicing licence from the relevant professional body
• At least two years of teaching experience in a tertiary institution
• Knowledge of pharmacy education standards; a Master's degree in a related field is desirable
