Tutorial Fellow, School of Computing & Informatics

About the role

Mount Kenya University is recruiting a Tutorial Fellow for its School of Computing & Informatics in Mombasa. The post is full time, middle level and based on site, reporting to the Deputy Director, Academic & Research Affairs. It covers teaching computing courses, preparing course outlines and learning materials, research, publication and departmental support.

Key responsibilities

• Take part in curriculum development and review
• Prepare course outlines and develop learning content
• Teach postgraduate, undergraduate, diploma and certificate courses
• Set, invigilate and administer examinations and report to the Department
• Supervise student projects and attend defence meetings
• Carry out research, publish and take part in conferences
• Attract research funding and facilitate field studies and student attachments/internships
• Monitor class attendance sheets so students meet the required lecture attendance before sitting exams
• Take part in university meetings and carry out other duties as assigned

Required profile

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or an equivalent qualification from a recognised institution
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an equivalent qualification
• Expected to have registered for a PhD in the relevant discipline
• At least two years of teaching experience in higher learning
• Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable
