UCS Watchstander / DDC Technician – Utility Control Systems

About the role

The UCS Watchstander / DDC Technician provides continuous monitoring and technical support for Utility Control Systems (UCS) and Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems supporting a U.S. Navy installation on Diego Garcia. The role ensures reliable operation of HVAC, electrical, water and other base utilities in a remote, 24/7 environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor UCS and DDC system performance and respond to alarms.
• Perform routine system checks, document status, and log watch activities.
• Escalate abnormal conditions to maintenance or engineering personnel.
• Assist with basic diagnostics, verify corrective actions, and support troubleshooting.
• Maintain accurate watch logs, update system documentation, and aid preventive‑maintenance tasks.
• Participate in system testing, calibration, and shift rotations to ensure continuous coverage.

Required profile

• 1–3 years experience in utility monitoring, building automation or related technical field.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of HVAC and utility infrastructure.
• Ability to read system displays, alarms and basic technical documentation.
• Valid passport (minimum 1 year validity) and ability to pass contract medical requirements.
• Eligibility to obtain required facility credentials and security clearance.
