Universal Banker – Islamic Banking Specialist

About the role

Provide excellent customer experience and drive Islamic Banking business growth within the branch network while ensuring compliance with bank standards and risk controls.

Key responsibilities

• Implement Islamic Banking strategic initiatives to increase new business and wallet share.
• Manage a portfolio of retail and business banking Islamic products, monitoring risk appetite.
• Collaborate with sales, asset finance, CIB and bancassurance teams to cross‑sell and develop customer solutions.
• Conduct market intelligence to identify new opportunities, regulatory changes and customer trends.
• Ensure compliance with KYC, AML and operational risk policies, and oversee accurate booking of new business.
• Maintain high customer service standards, meeting turnaround times for account onboarding and loan processing.

Required profile

• Business‑related degree from a recognized university.
• Experience in Islamic banking and familiarity with a range of banking products.
• Strong knowledge of Absa retail and business banking product strategy and Muslim banking culture.
• Ability to manage portfolio risks and adhere to compliance and control requirements.
