Vehicle Condition Inspector

About the role

ACV Auctions is seeking an enthusiastic Vehicle Condition Inspector to conduct thorough inspections of vehicles at dealerships, auctions and off‑lease locations. You will provide accurate condition reports, support the sales team, and help ensure a superior customer experience.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct detailed inspections of vehicles to identify damage, missing parts, and mechanical issues.
• Prepare and submit comprehensive condition reports with repair/replacement cost estimates.
• Assist the sales team in up‑selling and cross‑selling services and products.
• Interface regularly with dealers to build strong relationships and ensure client satisfaction.
• Travel to dealerships and homes, take multiple photos, and upload them using a company‑issued smartphone.
• List inspected wholesale vehicles on the ACV Auctions platform for bidding and purchasing.
• Onboard independent dealerships as buyers to use the digital platform.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• At least 1 year of experience in the automobile field (body, paint, or mechanical repair) with a customer‑service background.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Willingness to work outdoors for extended periods and perform manual labor (standing, lifting 25 lb+, bending, squatting).
• Problem‑solving aptitude and ability to work independently while collaborating in a team.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a registered, insured vehicle.
• Vision acuity sufficient to identify small defects on and under vehicles.
