Visiting Consultant / Affiliated Consultant Physician

About the role

The Mini Group is seeking a qualified Visiting Consultant or Affiliated Consultant Physician to deliver high‑quality outpatient care in its Westlands facility. The role involves independent clinical decision‑making, patient counselling, and coordination with multidisciplinary teams in a private‑practice environment.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert outpatient consultations within the assigned specialty or general practice scope.
• Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic conditions with professional autonomy.
• Order, review, and interpret diagnostic investigations, imaging, and laboratory results.
• Prescribe treatments in line with Kenyan clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Explain diagnoses, treatment options, and costs clearly and compassionately to patients.
• Coordinate care with nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, and administrative teams to ensure seamless patient flow.
• Identify, stabilize, and refer complex cases requiring tertiary or urgent care.
• Maintain accurate medical records using the facility’s Electronic Health Records system.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (or equivalent) recognized by the Kenyan government.
• Postgraduate Master’s degree or specialist fellowship in a relevant clinical specialty, or a recognized GP qualification.
• Valid, current registration and active practicing licence with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council.
• Minimum 3–5 years of clinical experience, preferably in private practice or hospital outpatient settings.
• Strong ethical standards and ability to make independent medical decisions.

Required skills

• Medical coding and claims processing knowledge (SHA/NHIF and private insurers).
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
• Strong clinical diagnostic and case‑management abilities.
