Volunteer Community Health Assistant (CHA)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Community Health Assistant (CHA) to support primary health care delivery at the community level in Hagadera. You will work closely with households, health facilities, and local partners to improve health outcomes for mothers, children, and the broader community.

Key responsibilities

• Provide basic health services such as immunization, health education, and treatment of common illnesses (diarrhea, malaria).
• Support maternal and child health by promoting antenatal/post‑natal care and breastfeeding.
• Conduct household visits for health education, disease surveillance, and prevention.
• Facilitate community health dialogues, action days, and health campaigns.
• Supervise and mentor Community Health Promoters (CHPs), organizing training and on‑the‑job support.
• Maintain accurate records of services delivered and report data to the Health Manager.
• Collaborate with Community Health Committees, local leaders, NGOs, and Ministry of Health structures to strengthen health programs.
