WASH Systems Strengthening Evidence Synthesis Consultant (Remote)

About the role

The consultant will lead an evidence synthesis on UNICEF's WASH systems strengthening initiatives, using the 2024 WASH Systems Strengthening Framework. Working remotely, the role supports the development of policy‑relevant insights that inform sustainable, equitable and climate‑resilient WASH services.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct a systematic review of WASH systems strengthening interventions across multiple countries.
• Analyse and synthesize evidence on policy formulation, financing, governance, workforce development and monitoring mechanisms.
• Produce a comprehensive evidence synthesis report aligned with UNICEF’s conceptual framework.
• Collaborate with UNICEF WASH teams and external experts to validate findings.
• Present results and recommendations to senior stakeholders and incorporate feedback.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in public health, environmental studies, development studies or a related field.
• Proven experience in evidence synthesis, systematic reviews, or research on WASH or related sectors.
• Experience working with international organisations or donor‑funded programmes.
• Ability to work independently in a remote, home‑based setting.
• Excellent analytical, writing and presentation skills in English.
