Women's Economic Empowerment Manager - Regional Livestock Programme

About the role

Prosper Global is recruiting a Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE) Manager for its Regional Livestock Programme (RLP), which works across Kenya, Ethiopia and Somalia. The role leads the design, implementation and oversight of a gender-transformative programme for women's economic empowerment in the drylands, within a Market Systems Development (MSD) framework, so that women, youth and other marginalized groups benefit equitably from market opportunities. It also leads the Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) strategy and works with technical teams, partners and MRM teams.

Key responsibilities

• Set the strategic direction for the WEE agenda across livestock trade corridors and strengthen partners' ability to integrate gender-transformative approaches across livestock value chains, animal health, feed and forage, trade, business development services and financial inclusion.
• Lead the implementation and refinement of the GESI strategy, working with Corridor Managers, the Deputy Director/Technical Lead, the Investment Manager and the NRM Lead to address systemic gender constraints and strengthen women's participation, leadership and economic benefits.
• Engage stakeholders such as government institutions, private sector actors, donors and civil society, and support multi-stakeholder partnerships, donor engagement and resource mobilization for WEE.
• Lead the GESI/WEE learning, evidence and knowledge management agenda, including annual learning priorities, qualitative and quantitative analysis, and internal and external communication products.
• Provide matrix accountability to the program director for the quality and results of the WEE and GESI portfolio across countries and corridors.
• Integrate Mercy Corps' Global Minimum Standards for GESI across the RLP, and guide teams to embed GESI considerations in interventions.
