Accountant – Finance Department

About the role

The Accountant will support the effective management of the SACCO’s financial operations by maintaining accurate records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with Kenyan regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Control all cash transactions and prepare quarterly economic performance reports.
• Prepare final accounts, monthly management reports, and quarterly reports for the board.
• Assist in budgeting, tax administration, and statutory filing.
• Manage cheque books, bank deposits, fixed‑asset register, payroll authorizations, and petty‑cash reconciliations.
• Supervise accounts assistants and ensure internal controls and SASRA compliance.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting or Finance.
• Fully qualified CPA (K) or ACCA certification.
• 3–5 years progressive experience in accounting or finance.
• Strong analytical ability, high accuracy and ethical conduct.

Required skills

• Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage or SAP.
• Advanced MS Excel skills.
• Knowledge of Kenyan tax laws, KRA iTax and statutory requirements.
• Familiarity with IFRS standards and SASRA guidelines.
