Accountant

About the role

The Partnership Agency is hiring a full-time Accountant in Nairobi to manage financial records, ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and support the overall financial health of the organization. The ideal candidate has 4-5 years of accounting experience, strong analytical skills and a thorough understanding of accounting principles and practices.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (profit and loss, balance sheet, cash flow) in line with accounting standards, regulations and company policy, and assist with budgets, forecasts and financial analysis.
• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, post journal entries and reconcile bank statements, accounts payable and accounts receivable.
• Prepare and file tax returns, manage VAT, PAYE and other statutory obligations, and liaise with tax authorities and external auditors.
• Monitor accounts payable and receivable, ensure timely payments and collections, and carry out credit control and debt management.
• Analyze financial data for trends and variances, prepare reports for management and support financial strategy.
• Implement internal controls, safeguard company assets and assist with internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field.
• CPA or ACCA qualification is required.
• 4-5 years of experience in a similar accounting role.
• Experience with financial reporting, tax compliance and general ledger management.

Required skills

• Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks or Sage, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail and good communication skills.
