Accounts Payables Officer

About the role

A client of Reeds Africa Consult is looking for an Accounts Payables Officer based in Nairobi. The role manages the end-to-end accounts payable function: processing supplier invoices accurately, reconciling them and paying on time, maintaining good vendor relationships, ensuring compliance with company policies and statutory requirements, supporting financial reporting and improving the accounts payable process. The advertised salary is Ksh 40,000 - 50,000 gross.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, review and verify supplier invoices through three-way matching, check compliance with VAT, withholding tax and ETIMS rules, and keep accurate registers and filing systems.
• Prepare and process payments, expense reimbursements and petty cash, monitor accounts payable ageing, apply discounts and account for withholding tax and other statutory deductions.
• Maintain vendor master data, onboard new suppliers, resolve supplier queries, reconcile supplier statements and outstanding balances.
• Reconcile supplier accounts, AP sub-ledgers and the general ledger, accruals and GRN/GIT accounts, and support month-end closing.
• Ensure compliance with policies and approval matrices, keep audit trails, support internal and external audits and escalate control weaknesses.
• Produce ageing reports, payment schedules, cash flow forecasts and management reports, analyse payable trends and recommend process improvements.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related field.
• CPA Part II, ACCA or progress towards a professional accounting qualification is an added advantage.
• 2-4 years of experience in accounts payable, finance or general accounting.
• Sound knowledge of Kenyan tax and statutory compliance (VAT, Withholding Tax, PAYE, ETIMS).
• Available to join immediately.
