Adjunct Instructor – French or Spanish

About the role

Ferris State University is seeking qualified adjunct instructors to teach French or Spanish language courses on a semester‑by‑semester basis. Positions are part‑time and may involve face‑to‑face, blended, or fully online delivery across multiple Michigan campuses and approved remote sites.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver introductory, intermediate, or advanced French or Spanish courses in the target language.
• Prepare syllabi, lesson plans, assignments, and assessments aligned with department standards.
• Utilize classroom technology and learning management systems for hybrid or online instruction.
• Provide timely feedback and support to students, maintaining academic integrity.
• Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development as needed.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in French, Spanish, linguistics, or a related field.
• At least 18 graduate credits in the language to be taught and near‑native fluency (ACTFL Advanced Mid level).
• Demonstrated ability to teach college‑level language courses fully in the target language.
• Residency in Michigan (or listed remote states) for the duration of employment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in French or Spanish at an advanced academic level.
• Experience with online teaching platforms and classroom technology.
