Africa Donor Engagement Coordinator

About the role

The Nature Conservancy's Africa Donor Engagement Coordinator is a key member of the Africa Development Team, coordinating and executing donor travel to the region. Donor travel is a core fundraising strategy, and the coordinator organizes meaningful experiences for supporters and prospective supporters to see TNC's work on the ground in Africa. The role reports to the Africa Donor Engagement Strategist, based in the eastern United States, and is open to candidates in African countries where TNC operates, with a preference for South Africa, Kenya and Tanzania.

Key responsibilities

• Plan up to 10-12 trips per year, coordinating multiple trips of varying complexity within defined timelines and budgets.
• Work with external travel professionals, donors and TNC colleagues on detailed planning and internal coordination.
• Ensure compliance with TNC's travel policies and procedures, and work within a budget, analyze and develop invoices and deliver on contracts with tourism providers.
• Manage, track and report data on donor travel, and help implement processes that improve program effectiveness.
• May supervise contractors, volunteers and/or temporary staff.
• Travel and work flexible hours as needed; the work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree and 2 years' experience in the travel industry across Africa, or an equivalent combination.
• Experience building relationships with staff, customers and vendors, and generating reports and interpreting data.
• Experience in business writing, editing and proofreading, and working across teams.
• Training in the principles and practices of high-end travel.
• Desired: multi-lingual skills, cross-cultural experience, ability to work under pressure, knowledge of travel industry trends, database and spreadsheet software, and strong organization and attention to detail.
