Agribusiness Management Specialist

About the role

AVSI Foundation is implementing the AGRIPACT project, a three-year initiative focused on agricultural value chains in Nakuru and Kilifi counties, aimed at strengthening dairy and horticultural value chains. The Agribusiness Management Specialist leads technical field execution for market-led interventions, producer aggregation, financial inclusion, cold chain integration and agri-enterprise development. The post reports to the Project Manager and is full-time for 12 months, renewable.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and coordinate with public and private stakeholders, integrating gender, youth and climate-smart practices
• Coordinate with local government authorities, agricultural research institutes and private sector players to build sustainable service ecosystems
• Support producers' compliance with food safety regulations, grade standards, certification requirements and quality control protocols
• Prepare and submit monthly performance reports, work plans and budgets
• Coordinate project activities, implement them to high quality and provide technical support and capacity development to field officers
• Track and report progress and achievements using the monitoring and evaluation system
• Maintain partnerships with county governments, line ministries, the private sector and interest associations, and represent AVSI and the project at meetings
• Monitor and document progress and milestones of matching grants for dairy cooperatives, and capture impact evidence and success stories
• Organise participants for trainings, field visits and learning tours, and collect data according to the provided tools
• Take part in bi-weekly MEAL meetings and quarterly project management committee meetings, and develop at least three success stories

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Economics, Business Administration, Rural Development or a closely related field; Master's degree preferred
• At least 3 years of professional experience designing and managing market-led agricultural development interventions, agribusiness enterprise support or value chain projects
• Demonstrated experience working with agricultural cooperatives, producer organizations, off-takers, commercial banks and microfinance institutions
