AI Platform Engineer (Cloud)

About the role

Absa Group’s Chief Data Analytics and Applied AI Office is looking for an experienced AI Platform Engineer to design, deploy, operate and continuously improve a multi‑cloud infrastructure that powers the bank’s enterprise AI capabilities across several business units and countries.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and manage enterprise‑grade AI infrastructure on AWS Bedrock, Databricks AI, Microsoft Azure AI Foundry, Hugging Face and GPU environments.
• Monitor AI platform consumption, support cost allocation, and drive optimisation of token usage, Databricks workloads and GPU utilisation.
• Implement observability, monitoring, alerting and dashboards to ensure high availability and performance of production AI services.
• Apply zero‑trust security controls and collaborate with security, FinOps and architecture teams to meet risk and responsible AI requirements.
• Take ownership of assigned platform components while contributing to overall platform resilience and user experience.

Required profile

• Proven experience in cloud platform engineering and infrastructure‑as‑code.
• Hands‑on experience deploying AI workloads at scale in multi‑cloud environments.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills within an agile engineering setting.
• Ability to work closely with senior engineers, architects, security specialists and AI solution engineers.
