Application Engineer – Gas Turbine Systems

About the role

The Application Engineer will act as the primary technical resource for Durr Universal’s field and internal sales teams, focusing on gas turbine inlet and exhaust systems. You will provide expert guidance, develop tailored solutions, and ensure successful project delivery for customers.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain expert‑level knowledge of Durr Universal products, especially gas turbine inlet and exhaust systems.
• Interpret customer requirements and deliver clear, reliable technical solutions.
• Manage technical deliverables for engineered‑to‑order projects, including reviewing specifications, preparing system descriptions, and supporting cost estimation during bids.
• Serve as the technical liaison for warranty and field issues, ensuring accurate communication of engineering requirements.
• Provide on‑site technical support, presentations, and demonstrations during customer visits.
• Lead product design efforts, review fabrication drawings, and collaborate with the design department to create detailed models.
• Utilize design and sizing tools to generate manufacturable fabrication drawings.
• Travel up to 25 % to customer sites for scope definition, measurements, and project alignment.
• Support sales teams with application, sizing, and selection information to identify new opportunities.
• Troubleshoot production and warranty issues and deliver technical training to sales personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field (preferred).
• Minimum five years of engineering experience.
• Strong knowledge of acoustics, filtration, aerodynamics, and exhaust after‑treatment principles.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD (or 2D CAD) systems.
• Understanding of sheet metal fabrication, welding, and manufacturing processes.
• Experience with exhaust applications (emissions reduction, silencing, expansion allowance) and inlet applications (static/pulse filtration, evaporative cooling, heating/cooling) is a plus.
• Ability to work collaboratively in team environments and train others.
