Area Coordinator – Ad Damazin, Sudan

About the role

The Area Coordinator will serve as the Chief of Party for the USDA McGovern‑Dole Food for Education program in Ad Damazin, Sudan. Reporting to the senior leadership of Global Communities, the role provides overall strategic, technical, financial and operational direction to ensure the program’s objectives of reducing hunger and improving school enrollment are achieved.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all program staff, consultants and partners, ensuring high‑quality implementation of technical interventions.
• Oversee the development and execution of work plans, budgets and regular performance reviews.
• Ensure compliance with Global Communities, USDA, local laws and donor agreement requirements.
• Manage monitoring, evaluation and reporting processes to demonstrate concrete outcomes.
• Represent the project publicly, maintain communications with USDA and liaise with government entities and other stakeholders.
• Identify and cultivate partnerships that enhance program impact and sustainability.

Required profile

• Extensive experience leading large‑scale, multi‑million‑dollar development programs, preferably with USDA or similar donors.
• Proven ability to manage multidisciplinary teams in humanitarian or education‑nutrition contexts.
• Strong communication and stakeholder‑engagement skills, with experience representing projects at senior levels.
• Demonstrated knowledge of food‑for‑education, nutrition, and school‑based interventions.
