Assistant Accountant – Hospital, Garissa

About the role

The hospital is seeking a diligent Assistant Accountant to support its finance team. You will work on day‑to‑day accounting tasks, ensuring accurate financial records for a busy private healthcare facility in Garissa.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain ledgers, journals and supporting documentation.
• Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions promptly.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and monitor cash‑flow movements.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning activities.
• Verify and post financial transactions in the accounting system.
• Ensure compliance with tax, statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with payroll processing and staff‑related financial records.
• Reconcile supplier, customer and general‑ledger accounts.
• Participate in inventory and asset verification exercises.
• Provide documentation for internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Minimum KCSE (O Level) qualification.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Commerce or related field.
• At least three (3) years of proven experience as an Assistant Accountant or Accountant, preferably in a trading, commercial or healthcare environment.
• CPA Part II certification is preferred.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.
