Assistant Chief Engineer – Dual Role

About the role

We are seeking a Dual Assistant Chief Engineer to support the Chief Maintenance Engineer in maintaining the Holiday Inn Express & Suites and Candlewood Suites in Lenexa. This role ensures all building systems, guest rooms, public areas and grounds operate safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in planning, directing and supervising daily maintenance operations, ensuring timely completion of work orders and preventive maintenance tasks.
• Perform and oversee repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, life‑safety and other building systems.
• Conduct inspections of guest rooms, public areas, exterior grounds and back‑of‑house areas to identify maintenance needs and uphold brand standards.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to extend equipment life and reduce disruptions.
• Supervise, train, coach and evaluate maintenance staff, providing guidance to maintain productivity and quality workmanship.
• Respond to emergency maintenance situations, guest requests, equipment failures and safety concerns promptly.
• Coordinate with vendors, oversee contractors, manage projects and capital‑improvement initiatives.
• Monitor inventory, assist with purchasing of supplies, tools, equipment and parts, and maintain accurate maintenance records.

Required profile

• High school diploma required; two years of post‑secondary education preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in hotel or similar facility maintenance, including supervisory responsibilities.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays when urgent issues arise.
